The seventy-second session of the Executive Council (EC-72) will be the first session to be held remotely through a virtual platform. It will take place from 28 September to 2 October 2020 and will be preceded by the virtual session of the Financial Advisory Committee (FINAC-39) on 24 and 25 September 2020. Please consult INF 1 for information regarding how to connect to the session and how to use the virtual platform KUDO. Please also refer to Doc 1(4) for an explanation of how the online session will be conducted. Delegates will be contacted before the session to check their connectivity and to be briefed on the use of the platform and test its main functions.
Online pre-registration is required for all participants. In view of their official status with WMO, Permanent Representatives of WMO Members (PRs) have been given access to an online Event Registration System allowing the pre-registration of their respective delegations. More information concerning online pre-registration is provided under the section Online Registration and Credentials of this website.
Please note that the submission of information through the online event registration system does not exempt EC members, regional hydrological advisers to the presidents of the regional associations and presidents of technical commissions from the need to inform the Secretariat of their participation through a signed letter to be sent by email to: email@example.com.
Please refer to the Online Registration and Credentials tab for more information.
Simultaneous interpretation into the six WMO official languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish will be provided during the online plenary meetings through the virtual platform.
Documents will be issued in the six WMO official languages and will be posted before and during the session on this website. The following documents are being prepared:
EC-72 List of documents for the session (16-Sep-2020).pdf
The Executive Council established the Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) and the Technical Coordination Committee (TCC) to assist in the review of policy and technical matters submitted to it by the constituent and non-constituent bodies of the Organization and the Secretariat. Most of the documents submitted to EC-72 have been reviewed by PAC and TCC (as indicated in the attached list). PAC and TCC have provided the Council with analytical information and recommendations on these documents and have summarized that information and those recommendations in their reports INF 2.5(1) and INF 2.5(2). The documents listed in Doc 4 and highlighted in the above list may be approved without further discussion by the Council. It will therefore be proposed that they be adopted by consensus unless discussion is specifically requested by a member of the Council. Please notify us through firstname.lastname@example.org if you see the need to discuss any of these documents.
In view of the limited time for online sessions and in order to optimize discussions during the meeting, EC members are encouraged to submit comments on documents to email@example.com prior to the session, preferably one week before its commencement. In order to reduce the time for introductions, presentations (slides and/or video) will be uploaded for a number of items prior to the session.
The tentative work plan for the session is provided in the Tentative workplan section (left-hand menu) of this website.
The tentative work plan is subject to changes, as it provides only an initial indication of the meetings and agenda items that will be taken up at the session. The actual work plan will be adjusted by the Coordination Committee, as necessary, during the session, and will be provided online and in the daily order of business. All efforts will be made to minimize deviations from the work plan.
A survey will be set up at the end of the session.
For questions regarding the online session, please contact the WMO Conference Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A provisional list of participants will be uploaded on the session website shortly after the beginning of the remote session. This list will be updated on a daily basis.
