Gender diversity has a positive impact on the overall quality of leadership and decision-making. Recognizing this, the WMO has initiated a series of workshops to enhance leadership skills and provide opportunities for women to participate in decision-making forums.

The Regional Association I (Africa) Women's Leadership Workshop will take place from 16 to 17 February 2019 at the Conference Centre of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, Cairo, Egypt. It will be followed by the Regional Conference (RECO), the Fourth African Conference for Meteorology (AMCOMET-4) and the seventeenth session of RA I (RA I-17).

The workshop is intended for female delegates to RA I-17, participants in RECO and AMCOMET-4 and female professionals from the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHS) and other relevant institutions of RA I member states. Priority for participation in the workshop will be given to delegates and experts attending the above sessions.

The workshop's content is oriented towards building a set of practical leadership skills, with a focus on communications, negotiations and consensus-building. The workshop is envisioned as an interactive and dynamic event, with time allocated for feedback, insights and exchange of lessons learned.
