​The Commission for Basic Systems (CBS) will meet in Guangzhou, China from 21 to 29 November 2016 at the Dong Fang Hotel. 120 Liu Hua Road, Guangzhou, 510016.

 

CBS TECO 2016: the CBS Technical Conference 2016 will be held on 21 and 22 November.

 

CBS-16: the sixteenth session of the Commission for Basic Systems will be held from 23 to 29 November. The opening of CBS-16 will be at 09:30 on 23 November.

Conference information and registration desk

A Conference Information and Registration Desk will be set up close to the meeting rooms to facilitate the registration of participants and provision of general information. This service will be open from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
 

Confirmation of registration of participants

Participants in CBS-16 are requested to register in advance using the registration process described under "Online Registration". Confirmation of registration for CBS-16 will take place from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, 22 November 2016 and from 8 a.m. on Wednesday, 23 November 2016. Confirmation of registration will continue throughout the session. Participants will receive identification badges at the time of registration, which should be worn throughout the session.
  

Working language & interpretation

 

at plenary meetings of the sixteenth session of the Commission for Basic Systems  simultaneous interpretation will be provided in the six WMO official languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. Side meetings will be held in English.

Documents issued in advance of the session will be provided in the six WMO official languages. Document produced or updated during the session will be in English only. Full translations will be provided for approved documents shortly after the session.

Paperless sessi​on

Documents will be posted before and during the session on this CBS-16 website, in line with WMO greening efforts to promote paperless meetings. Therefore, participants are kindly invited to bring their portable computers to work on the documents during the session.
 

 

References to decisions, resolutions and recommendations made by EC-68

The final abridged report of EC-68 had not been published by the time the first documents for CBS-16 were available on this website.  This means that the numbers used by CBS-16 documents to refer to decisions, recommendations and resolutions by EC-68 may not be the same as those in the report of EC-68. The document linked here​ ​lists the original numbers allocated to decisions, resolutions and recommendations in the approved documents from EC-68 together with the corresponding number that is in the final report of EC-68, and may be used to interpret which was intended by the CBS-16 documents. The EC-68 approved documents will remain available from ​the EC-68 web site until the final report is published.
